Greatings from the EBS Governor

In the last few days at Evergreen Boys State, we have been given more opportunities that most high school students, or anyone for that matter, could hope for. We have been given the opportunity to come together with approximately three hundred other high school juniors to form and run a model of the Washington State government. We Also had teh opportunity of listening to guest speakers including Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna, First Gentleman Mike Gregoire, and teh National Commander of The American Legion Martin Conatser. One of teh many events that took place was teh primary elections for teh state and city officials. Citizens had the opportunity to declare candidacy and campaign for offices. we have learned the process of government including how to run city meetings, town hall meetings, and county meetings more efficiently andeffectively. We also learned more about different jobs in a state level government such as Secretary of State, State Treasurer and Attorney General.
The day we arrived, we were separated into two political parties: Nationalist and Federalist. After we had our platforms finalized, we took part in party conventions to showcase each party's candidates. Currently we have established and executive branch, a legislative branch, and a judicial branch and have commenced governing the State of Evergreen.
We greatly appreciate your interest in this great program sponsored by The American Legion.

Regards,
Douglas Vogel
Governor, 2008 Evergreen Boys State
